CubaDupa - New Zealand's Largest Street Festival

Every year, for a single vibrant weekend, over 120 acts and over 250 performances transform Cuba Street into New Zealand’s most colourful and diverse street festival, CubaDupa. Originally dreamed up as a celebration of the change of season - the last party of summer to the first party of winter, CupaDupa has evolved to symbolise the weird, whimsical and wonderful spirit of Wellington creative scene.

Since its inception in 2015, Everyone™ have worked with the Creative Capital Events Trust as a founding partner, refining the narrative to ensure the CubaDupa is positioned as New Zealand’s most loved creative festival. Everyone™ developed the original ambigram logo, designed to be recognised not read, leaning into the core brand idea of ‘expect the unexpected’. This theme gave Everyone™ the license to visually re-interpret the campaign for the festival every year with local artists.

In 2020 the evolution of the brand had a pivotal moment. Everyone™ saw the opportunity to revitalise the core idea to be more concise, ownable and recognisable. The idea of ‘the beautiful disruption’ was born, celebrating the key role creatively plays in opening our hearts and minds to new experiences, uniting communities, fostering connections and celebrating our differences.

The festival has become the country’s biggest street festival, known for its fascinating lineups of international acts and world-class local talent. Every year, more than 100,000 people pour into the area for the weekend, keen to celebrate the creative spirit of Wellington.
